Background & Vision

Inspired by Jesus' example of radical hospitality, and our own experience of the learning, support, and spiritual growth that has happened while living in community, Thomas and Terri Lynn feel that opening their home to the Vine & Table just makes sense. The Vine & Table comes to life in a big blue house in Riversdale, Saskatoon. Built in the early 1900s with an addition in the ‘60s, we purchased the house in March of 2017 and have been doing updates and cosmetic fixes since.

The Vine & Table is a community for young adults who engage in shared table, household life, and spiritual growth as we offer mentorship and support in academic study and vocational exploration. As coordinators, Thomas & Terri Lynn Friesen live on site, in the second floor suite, as part of the community. The Vine & Table is located in Riversdale - Saskatoon, SK - a block and a half from the Meewasin Trail system, close to downtown and to the bus stop to the University.

Together, the community shares common spaces and meals as part of the cost and experience of living together as a 'family'. The house has been purchased and set-up through personal financing. It is sustainable through room and board set at competitive ‘dorm rates’ and paid by each member.

Our experience of community has formed and shaped our vision for the Vine & Table, and we are grateful for the work and witness of these organizations and communities:
